Abstract

This study presented a methodology to determine the maintainability index based on assembly criteria. In this study, maintenance efficiency is measure by considering type of fastener used in the assembly. After the assembly type for each of components in the product is identified, then represented in the form of disassembly digraph. Each of the assembly is weighted based on their fastener characteristics such as disasemblability, reassembly and so on. Finally, by using the derived equations, the maintainability index can be determined. A case study of power window module is carried out to clarify this work. Several design improvement have been done and the result depict that the maintainability index can be improved.
