Abstract

Phytochemical examination of the petroleum ether extract of Hemigraphis hirta has led to the isolation of squalene (1), lupeol (2) and β-sitosterol (3) by a combination of column and preparative thin layer chromatography. The structures of these compounds were determined by spectroscopic analysis (UV, IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR) as well as by comparison of their spectral data with previously reported values.
